CN400 and CX400

Designed and built for the most demanding municipal environments, the Johnston CX400 incorporates versatility, low emissions and class leading suction power. Equally at home in built-up town centres, industrial sites and residential areas, the CX400 has the suction capability and build quality to easily withstand the heaviest contractor applications.

The similar CN400 model is a new low speed machine on which transit speeds are limited. This is engineered primarily for markets where regulations often require lower transit speeds.

At just 7.5 tonnes GVM for the CX400 and 8.9 tonnes GVM for the CN400 these sweepers are the lightest and narrowest vehicles in their class - giving you increased flexibility of operation and making it ideal for ‘low pressure’ surfaces. A width of only 1650mm, a short wheelbase and an acute steering lock allow unparalleled access the narrowest of paths and walkways, while the sweepgear configuration of two 1000mm front mounted brushes has been designed for the efficient cleaning of blind alleys and 90° corners.

Add lightweight design and an acute steering lock and you have the superb handling & manoeuvrability you need to get in and out of the tightest spaces.

Operator Environment

The cutting-edge design of the new CX400 and CN400 looks set to revolutionise operator comfort and performance. The advanced CANview system, displays on an in-cab screen information on the status of all of the machine’s functions - from engine speed and temperature to the hours and miles swept and service requirements.

In addition to the joysticks for the prime control of the brushes, an exciting new feature is the new palm-rest control panel. This allows operators to manage all the sweeping functions of the machine from a single large buttoned keypad, which is easy to operate - even in gloves. Switches for the Littasnatch system and roof mounted Wanderhose options are mounted in the door for ease of operation.

The large tinted windscreen and clear floor panels provide increased visibility of the brushes and nozzles during sweeping for more effective operation. A heated screen comes as standard on every model.

High Performance

Both the CX400 and CN400 sweep at up to 16 km/h. The CX400 is capable of transit speeds of up to 80 km/h for optimum
on-station work time. On the CN400 model transit speeds are limited to 40 kp/h or
25 km/h.

Both models have front facing brushes, payloads over 4 tonnes and an up and over rear door option which allows discharge into a refuse truck without the need for an ejector plate. Maximum tipping heights are available between 1.1m and 1.8m.

The 3300mm brush reach ensures that debris can easily be placed in front of the side sliding nozzle for optimum pick-up performance. The powerful suction equals that of much larger truck-mounted units and ensures that even the heaviest debris is removed in a single pass. Large fuel and water tanks further increase productive on-site work periods, while the cruise-control feature reduces operator effort.

Superior Build Quality

The 4.1m3 hopper is constructed from stainless steel for extra protection against corrosion and wear. Available with an optional tip height of 1800mm, the hopper body incorporates noise suppression ducts to minimise noise without compromising performance. The low noise, heavy duty multivane fan comes fitted with wear resistant blades.

To provide the most comfortable drive possible, power assisted steering and full automotive style suspension are fitted as are disc brakes all-round (CN400 supplied as standard with discs on front). Not only do discs give you exceptionally responsive braking, they also provide greater durability and easy access for more cost effective maintenance.

Optional equipment includes:

1800mm high dump option (CX400), allowing tipping into standard skips; Supawash with hand lance and spraybar; 4000mm, side mounted Littasnatch; turntable mounted 5.9m wanderhose; rear mounted camera system with in-cab monitor.
